What does griffbereitMINI want?

Make the *families aware that all communication with the child (verbal and non-verbal) is language education. The focus is therefore on toddler-friendly parent-child interaction through activities such as playing together, singing, reading aloud, etc.) in at least two languages: the family language(s) and German.

Who can participate in griffbereitMINI?

From the pregnancy of the *mother until the completion of the first year of life. It is possible to start at any time during this period.

When and for how long does a griffbereitMINI group take place?

Who is responsible for the programme?

Coordination in NRW is carried out by the individual Municipal Integration Centres (KI) with support from the Ministry for Children, Youth, Family, Equality, Refugees and Integration (MKJFGFI). In federal states with state coordination (Berlin, Brandenburg, Lower Saxony, Saxony and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania), responsibility lies in the hands of the respective LaKo; in federal states without state coordination, responsibility lies with the Federal Transfer Team based at the ZfTI.

Is childcare provided for siblings during the Griffbereit group?

Yes, if *parents/*families with children older than the programme target group are attending, childcare can be provided if needed.

Which agencies should be involved in programming from the beginning?

Recommended: Youth Welfare Office/specialist counselling, early prevention services and possible sponsors and donors.

  • the programme griffbereitMINI functions as a concept of the educational institution (integrative offer)
  • Cooperation agreement between the CI/federal cooperation partner and the educational institution/promoter (stipulation of cooperation goals, cooperation contributions of the partners, finances)
  • Provide facilities for the parent/family group (and possible childcare).
  • Participation in the annual evaluation (if not taken over by the coordination office)

What are the tasks of the KI/federal cooperation partner?

  • Presentation of the programme to interested providers, the KiTa team, etc.

Who is responsible for recruiting participants in the programme and which methods of recruiting families have proven successful?

  • The educational institution already draws attention to the programme during the enrolment interviews/on the homepage/by means of notices in the institution and in the social space (places where families spend time such as grocery shops, bakeries, midwife practices, pregnancy counselling centres, paediatricians, offers for small children, etc./via newspaper advertisements).
  • The coordination office and the executing agency advertise via their respective homepages, social media and networks.
  • The group facilitators advertise with flyers and word-of-mouth if they are well networked in the town or district.
  • Possibly advertising via migrant communities and MSOs and, if necessary, in consultation with the Integration Council.
  • The youth welfare office can also provide promotional support as a possible cooperation partner.

What are the tasks of group facilitators?

  • Participation in planning arrangements with the educational institution before the start
  • Supporting the educational institution in recruiting *families
  • Weekly implementation of the griffbereitMINI group (2 hours)
  • Participation in regular exchange and reflection meetings with the coordination office
  • Participation in the basic qualification and further training for group facilitators
  • Participation in the annual evaluation
  • Possibly participate in quarterly or half-yearly planning meetings with the educational institution.

What requirements should group facilitators have?

What is the remuneration of group facilitators and which deadlines have to be taken into account?

The activity as a group facilitator is usually remunerated. The LaKo collects average values and makes recommendations based on the rates for family education/VHS. However, the remuneration can also be based on the flat rate for exercise leaders or in the form of a mini-job. There is also the case of release of permanent staff, which replaces direct remuneration.

  • Reflection and planning meetings
  • Preparation and follow-up of the offers

Who trains the group facilitators?

Recommended:

The training is led by the local KI/federal cooperation partner, who will later provide the griffbereitMINI-The group facilitator is the person who accompanies the group and can thus be a contact person for the group facilitators from the very beginning.

Information on the programme can be obtained from the local AI/federal cooperation partner.

Speakers can be brought in for specific topics, e.g. media education, literacy, etc.

What is the focus of the training?

Who concludes the cooperation agreement with the provider/educational institution and other partners?

The local CI or the nationwide cooperation partner concludes the cooperation agreement with the executing agency/educational institution and - if envisaged - with other partners.

What about cooperation agreements between LaKI and KI/federal cooperation partner or KI/federal cooperation partner and executing agency, institution?

Implementation is tied to cooperation agreements.

The cooperation agreements with the local providers or educational institutions are to be made regionally.

  • Within the framework of practical workshops/qualifications
  • The coordinating office invites the group facilitators to a central location at regular intervals.
  • Topics are usually organisational and content-related issues

At what group size does it make sense to fund the programme?

Recommendable is a consistent Group size of 4 to 8 regularly participating families. This usually requires a slightly higher number of registrations (6-10 *families).

What does long-term financing look like?

Possibilities:

  • Within the framework of integration and education conferences of the state/city/district, definition of integration goals, especially for language promotion, family education/adult education as well as synergy effects through state and federal programmes (IfKuF, Sprach-Kitas, etc.).
  • Local agreements to include budget griffbereitMINI in the budget of the respective municipality/the respective youth welfare office/funding for the family centres/funding for early help
  • About donations from a company / association etc.
