Title: App works! - Using digital media to support parents!
Speaker: Johannes Wenzel, Media Officer, Münster, Blickwechsel e.V.

Speaker: Johannes Wentzel has been working for over 21 years in school and extracurricular work with children and young people and in adult education. Together with kindergartens, family centres, schools, vocational colleges, family education centres, adult education centres, universities, libraries, further education facilities and municipal institutions, he offers training courses, workshops, information events, parents' evenings and media training for multipliers, teachers, educators, parents and pupils on the subject of responsible and creative use of digital media.

Brief description: Parent counsellors can also provide many important tips and impulses on the topic of digital media and support parents in a reflective use of media in the family. Digital media should be utilised with creativity and fun within the family and when accompanying parents. The following topics, for example, will play a role:

  • Which (digital) media worlds are families travelling in today?
  • Media use and child development - how do they go together?
  • Using media experiences as an opportunity to speak
  • Use apps creatively and together!

Speaker: Philipp Tillmann, KI Dortmund

Speaker: Mr Tilmann is a trained primary school teacher and has been working at the Municipal Integration Centre of the City of Dortmund since 2017. There, he coordinates the Griffbereit family education programme and is the contact person for the topics of language education and multilingualism in primary schools. He also played a leading role in developing the new griffbereitMINI family education programme and is currently supporting its nationwide implementation.

Brief description: griffbereitMINI is the first programme for families with children up to the age of one that focuses on language development. It aims to sensitise families to the importance of language development right from the start and encourage them to communicate with their child as much and in as many different ways as possible from a pre-verbal age. Following the presentation of the structural framework conditions for the programme, examples will be used to provide insights into concrete practical implementation.
